Dear Friend:

Today is Zayin Adar, the Seventh day of Adar, the date on which Moshe Rabeinu died – and the date on which historically local Chevra Kadisha groups honor the volunteers who selflessly perform the important mitzvah of Jewish burial preparations.

Usually we host a community-wide dinner on Zayin Adar.  This year, we have opted to organize a much smaller dinner just for the volunteers, since last year's dinner was postponed until May and we didn't want to burden the community with two dinners in nine months.  We hope to plan a larger dinner for the entire community in 2024.

This year, we are dedicating our Zayin Adar program to the memory of Judith Jelen, of blessed memory, who served  for many years as a volunteer to the Stamford Chevra Kadisha.

If you would like to make a donation in memory of Judith, and help support the Stamford Chevra Kadisha in its important community-wide endeavors, please click the link below.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

Michael Feldstein
On behalf of the Stamford Chevra Kadisha

PS – In addition to the taharas our volunteers perform, the Chevra Kadisha is sponsoring a bereavement support group for those who have lost a loved one, in partnership with Schoke JFS of Stamford.  We are also distributing two books to families who suffer a loss – one is a personal account of a volunteer who regularly performs taharas and the other is a book explaining the various mourning customs and practices.  These books have been extremely well received.  Please CLICK HERE to make your donation.
